Hello, Warriors! We hope your students are enjoying this Friday off!
We have a post from Ms. Gregory's classroom! Her assistant Ms. Williams writes, " On Monday, we learned how to make Ice Cream! We mused, measured and poured our way to m any ice cream related activities including sequencing and pattern recognition. A yummy way to learn! 🍦"
A yummy way indeed! If we know our Mr. Miller, he probably had a serving or two!

Ms. Bright and Ms. Perdelwitz combined forces and had students play a favorite game of many generations: BATTLESHIP! To help tie in the Computers curriculum, they used Google Sheets to do so! Thank you to the media center for hosting the classes, and to our wonderful computer teachers for sharing!
Want to learn more about our Computer classes, as well as the rest of our Encore Classes? Be sure to look out for more information about our upcoming Encore Expo, coming in April!

Ms. Pittman's 5th grade ELA classes have been busy! She has two things she'd love to share with our families. :)
First, the photos of the papers on the lockers! She writes, "Students in my classes were given a spring writing prompt where they had to write about something new they'd like to try this spring. Writing is such a crucial part of not only ELA but life in general. The practice did them so well. They rose to the occasion and impressed me with their writing and spring goals!"
Second group of photos are of competition between her students. She writes, "Students today completed an anchor chart activity! They had to list homophones and homographs, and whichever team listed the most won! The winning group had 83!"
What are homophones and homographs, you ask? Homophones are words that sound the same but have different meanings like "there", "their" and "they're", or "accept" and "except". Homographs are words that are spelled the same but have different meanings like "bat" being a mammal or sports equipment, or "can" meaning able to, or a metal food container!

Last Friday our 6th Grade Ambassadors and Student Council traveled all the way to Indian Land Elementary School to read to the 1st and 2nd graders! One of our ambassors, Blythe Banks, even wrote her own story titled, "The Kindness Tree"! The kids had a great time, and it was especially fun for some of our ILIS students to return to their beloved elementary school. 💙💛 Thank you so much to our lovely hosts at ILE, we were so glad to come visit! :)

Wow- what a HUGE jump yesterday!!! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! As you head into school, if you find any coins in the car, tucked into the couch cushions, a bill crumpled in the bottom of your jacket packet, bring it on in! It looks like 6th grade is pretty far behind 5th grade. Can 6th grade catch up and take the pizza party win!? We all hope to reach our goal for our Pajama AND Hat day! (That's an update- we heard the kids and they want hats, too!)
Thank you again for all your support!
